Endure suffering along with me,
as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

Yes, there is joy and peace in the Lord. Absolutely! But there are times of suffering as well. The Bible speaks about this in many places. It is often referred to as "spiritual warfare." And for a man or woman who is new to Christ, they will soon find out just how real the battle is.
There is nothing to fear, however, as the Lord has given us everything, we need to live a godly and victorious life. He has made available to every one of His followers all that we need to be overcomers. And if we should sin and "miss the mark," Jesus will quickly come to our aid. He will pick us up and wash away all our sins with His own blood. He will then set us on the correct course, thus allowing His children the chance to make a fresh start.
Frankly, I've had to make many a fresh start. I've had my times of stumbling and going off course. I've done my share of repenting, too. But the beauty of Christ is that He is faithful to forgive and forget our times of sin and failure.
So may we therefore be good soldiers of the Lord. Not soldiers who fight with physical weapons, of course, but as warriors of the faith, walking in love and in the peace of God as we pull down the strongholds of Satan. As the Scripture declares, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (made from physical materials), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds," and so much more (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
