My friend, Jeff, who's a missionary to Russia, recently sent me a couple of news articles about the Russian government's proposal to make a series of laws to discourage what Christians call evangelism...
For a while now I have heard of such predictions from various ministers who have dedicated themselves to spreading the gospel in Russia, that one day the doors of opportunity for this will be closing. It's happening now.
Articles from Christianity Today and the barnabasfund.org reveal the sad news of plans now in the works by Russia's lawmakers to introduce Draconian measures restricting all forms of missionary work, to include teaching, preaching, and what is commonly called, "witnessing," the latter which means sharing the good news about the Lord Jesus. That He came and died for sinners, and wants to save them.
According to the online article from Christianity Today, even Russia's own citizens will not be allowed to use email to invite a friend or neighbor to church. I have begun to pray about this. And I am thankful, in light of these soon to come restrictions, that I was recently provided the opportunity to have had my "Son of Hope" testimony pamphlet translated into Russian. About 71000 copies of my story are now in the process of being distributed throughout Russian I am confident that, no matter the outcome of devious men and their laws, they cannot keep the Word of God from going forth.
