According to the local weather reports, it’s going to be a hot and humid day, with the Heat Index getting close to 100.
But speaking of heat, the world scene is heating up with violence. Israel is fighting with the Palestinians. There’s continued chaos in Iraq, while a civil war rages in Syria that has already killed about 150,000 people. There is also terrorism in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Even the streets of America are being overrun by violence. Some cities have become virtual war zones. Fourteen are dead in Chicago and twenty-one were shot in the streets of New York City, all of this taking place over the July 4th weekend.
Meanwhile, I am hearing more and more reports about people overdosing and dying from methamphetamine abuse. Young people are losing their lives to opioids and heroin. The abuse of legal pain pills is off the charts.
People need the Lord. Jesus is the only one who can break the chains of addiction. May God help America.
