It’s been a hot summer...
I haven’t had the energy to write a lot in my journal. These days much of my energy is spent working full-time, responding to correspondence, helping in the church, and in trying to be an encourager to my peers.
Meanwhile, the Lord Jesus continues to touch lives. Lately, we’ve had more visits to the chapel from men who are known to be involved in a gang. Such individuals are always heartily welcomed, as we seek to have all men come to faith in Christ.
And as I have declared many times, including in a few previous journal entries, it takes great courage for a known gang member to decide to go to church. To some of their fellow gang members, it’s considered a sign of weakness, even an act of betrayal. In their eyes, going to a chapel service or Bible study is not a good thing, and for those who do attend, it comes with great risk. There’s always a price to pay for becoming a disciple and follower of the Lord, and some of these brave souls have taken the risk.
