shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37
Recently I received a letter from a friend informing me that her niece, who has been suffering from depression, has been talking about suicide...
Her words caused me to think about something I believe to be true in many cases, that those who are contemplating suicide will give out a number of "cries for help," however subtle those cries may be, before they actually attempt the act.
My friend wrote to request prayer for her niece, which I began to do from the moment I first read the letter. Her niece is in her early twenties. It was also mentioned that a foster care agency has already involved itself in trying to take her niece's child away from her. They've labeled her an unfit mother.
To me, this only serves to exacerbate her depression as well as her feelings of worthlessness and despair. In addition, the agency has also determined that, as a high school dropout, she has no marketable skills, and can therefore show no concrete way to provide for her baby. Regrettably, they have already marked her for failure. Of course, I don't believe this because when one puts God into the problem, as the Bible declares, all things are possible for those who believe in Him.
Fortunately, this young lady has a praying aunt who's a woman of faith. And when you add a few praying friends into the mix who also have faith, miracles can happen. I am certain of this. Yes, a loving God hears the cries and prayers of His children. Even now, help is on its way.
