It's been a busy Sunday...
We had a good turnout of men for this morning's chapel service. My main task was to prepare all the items and implements necessary for Communion.
And that is what I did, to include several other routine chores. In addition, I as able to briefly share some words of encouragement with the congregation before the minister who was to give the main sermon message came to the pulpit.
And while I am always thankful for the opportunities God gives me to serve Him, and to serve in the church, in my present state of exhaustion I have been purposely trying to hand over various tasks and responsibilities to other members of my church. Little by little I am passing on these tasks to those whom, I hope, are eager to be used more by the Lord.
As I shared in my first journal entry for the month, I'm your classic "Type A" hyperactive and driven personality. So I am prone to periods of exhaustion and burnout, which of course is not good. And I really need the Lord's help when it comes to slowing down so that I could be refreshed, re-charged and re-energized. Obviously, a burned out Christian is no good to anyone. But I'm learning - often having to learn my lessons the hard way.
God is with me, however. So I'll be fine. He is my shepherd, and He has ways of keeping me still.
