"Oh, that I had wings like a dove! For then
I would fly away, and be at rest. I would I
wander far off, and remain in the wilderness."
Psalm 55:6-7
No one but the beloved King David of Israel could express it better...
I would fly away, and be at rest. I would I
wander far off, and remain in the wilderness."
Psalm 55:6-7
No one but the beloved King David of Israel could express it better...
If I had wings like a bird, I would fly away to seek rest from the storms and stresses of life. I would remain in the wilderness where I could experience peace and quiet.
As the readers of my journal know, I am in dire need of rest and recuperation, along with a season of refreshing. The trials of the past year have left me feeling worn out and weary. I ended the year in a state of physical and emotional exhaustion. But I'll be okay. I've been through this before.
At present, I am doing what the Scriptures instruct me to do. To "wait upon the Lord" who in due time will renew my strength. Yet, I still have to go to work as well as carry out my daily chores and responsibilities. I also have correspondence to reply to, all of which the Lord will give me the ability to complete in His time frame. But I do need to slow the pace down a bit. This, however, is not an easy thing for an overachiever like myself.
So when I came across the words of King David as he wrote about wanting to fly off and be alone, I could fully relate to him. I too long for the wilderness where it's just me and Jesus in a place of quiet rest. I dream about this every day.
