And the prayer of faith shall save the sick...

James 5:15
Within the past few days the Lord has been dealing with me about Covid...
A close friend had been stricken with the virus, and her family was as well. They seemed to be over it, but then she became reinfected, and so did most of her family who had been infected previously.
This got me thinking of how the Covid virus behaves in almost the same way demons do. I never noticed this before. But it was as if a light went off in my head. As a result, I now feel led to prepare a teaching on what I see as a possible spiritual aspect to the deadly enemy known as Covid.
I have therefore titled this, "The Spirit of Covid." I'm not saying Covid has demonic origins, although it may very well have. I'm only making some comparisons after I began to delve into this idea further. When I did, I found the similarities intriguing.
For example, the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines viruses as, "a group of submicroscopic infectious agents...that can grow and multiply only in living cells, and that cause important diseases in human beings and animals." It also describes viruses as something of a "corrupting influence that poisons the mind and spirit of an individual."
Obviously Covid is both harmful and virulent. But so are demons. Here are some obvious comparisons:
1. Demons make it a priority to gain entry into a person. So does Covid.
2. Demons, once they enter their victim, seek to live off their host's body and soul taking ownership in whatever way they can. While Covid acts the same way by entering its victim's cells and then using that person's own cells to reproduce themselves.
3. Demons usually seek out those who are the most vulnerable to control. Whereas Covid, while it could infect anyone, most notably seeks to enter the elderly, or those with diabetes, heart disease, or another underlying "at risk" health condition.
4. Just as a demon will sometimes willingly leave his host and wander off only to return to his former host while bringing more demons with him, Covid appears to use the same tactic by returning to the victim, thereby reinfecting him.*
5. Demons torment their victims by causing pain, sickness, weakness, mental confusion, fear, and more. But so does Covid.
6. Demons and their leader Satan, as the Bible states, seek to "steal, kill, and destroy" (John 10:10). Covid does these very same things. It robs its victims of their health. It kills some of them, and it destroys families.
In closing I do not believe that demons are behind all sicknesses. The powers they possess are very limited. But they can still do a lot of damage and destroy many lives. Yet the disciple of Christ need not fear the devil and his hordes. He can pray for those who suffer as a result of their vicious acts. He can pray for those who are sick and afflicted, be it from Covid or anything else.
God's word for us is, "Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (John 4:4).
