Last night, I again challenged the elements...
I went outdoors in bitterly cold weather. The air had a bite to it. Even though I wrapped my face and neck with a woolen scarf, it wasn’t enough to keep away the sting of an unrelenting wind.
Still, it was exhilarating to walk for a couple of hours in harsh weather under a dark sky. In some ways, I prefer walking outdoors to sitting in a pew in the chapel. There’s something about fresh air that makes me feel close to God. Maybe it’s because I’m hyperactive, and having my body in motion comes easier than having to sit for prolonged periods?
I don’t know for sure. But I enjoy the outdoors. I need fresh air and exercise for my own emotional and spiritual well-being. It’s a gift from God.
