Prior to now, the last piece of mail I received was on December 7th of last year...
The following day I'd be getting admitted into the hospital. I would not be released until well into January. Then, after my return to the prison, I was placed in the Infirmary for after care from surgery, and then came my mail.
An officer came with a large U.S. Postal Service bin, stacked with mail. I was given all the mail that was being held for me from the time I went into the hospital. Just looking at the bin stuffed with correspondence is stressing me out. I could see a lot of holiday cards too. It's going to take months to answer all of it, and I still feel very weak and have a lot of shortness of breath. Earlier today, I was returned to my cell in the general population. It's good to be back.
