The prison's Infirmary is a boring place...

I've been confined here since my return from a long stay at the Albany Medical Center. Here in the Infirmary, however, there is nothing to do but read, pray, and sleep. The food is dreadful, too. And I'm waiting for the chance to return to my cell.

Yet my lengthy hospitalization, and my brush with death, as not everyone is as fortunate as I was to survive bypass surgery, has helped to give me a fuller perspective of life. The ordeal has actually caused my faith in God to grow, and it has provided me with an awareness that I need to make some life changes, now.

In addition, I believe I have a better understanding these days of an often quoted and well-known Bible verse, Romans 8:28. How God allows all that happens in our lives, even things which seem to be bad, to ultimately benefit us. Whether we're facing difficult circumstances or hard to deal with people, in the end, good can come out of it, provided we do not lose faith and hope in the Lord.
