1 Thessalonians 5:17
A short time ago, I finished praying for a friend's daughter who recently joined the Air Force...
While the week before one of the men in my fellowship told me his daughter just enlisted in the Marines. As I have written a number of times in my journal, I feel it is my duty to pray for our nation's military personnel, especially since I too once served in the United States Army. I know how challenging a military vocation can be, and the various stresses that come with it.
I know, too, that some of our military personnel have problems with alcohol and other drugs, as well as higher than average incidents of divorce and suicide. I therefore ask the Lord to be merciful to the men and women who help protect our nation. To be with them, touch their hearts and minds, and to reveal himself to them as their ultimate source of strength and hope.
