Staying on the Course

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,
beseech you that ye walk worthy of
​the vocation wherewith ye are called. 
Ephesians 4:1 

These words from the pen of the apostle Paul affected me deeply today... 

As I mentioned in yesterday’s journal entry, it is now time to move on with my life, because God, I believe, has a good plan and purpose for me. And, little by little, it is coming to pass.

Meanwhile, I continue to serve the Lord in the various vocations for which He has called and prepared for me. I am still helping my fellow elders with overseeing the needs of our congregation. And I am still working with the mentally challenged during the daytime, while I continue to work the late shift at the prison’s kitchen. I’m washing and scrubbing pots and pans, plus helping to clean the kitchen, so it can close for the night. It is hard, sweaty work. Being a washer is humbling, but it is honest work.

Having to crawl under the utility sinks to empty the sump pans and clean the drains, plus help pick up the day’s slop that’s scattered across the floor, keeps me on my knees. And I suppose that being on one’s knees is a good place for a Christian to be at.
