Romans 10:13
A friend of mine, Pastor Don Wilkerson, who is the brother of the late Reverend David Wilkerson…
who was the former pastor of the Times Square Church in New York City, recently published a small devotional book titled, THE IMPACT OF ORDINARY PEOPLE: 30 DEVOTIONAL LESSONS FROM LESSER KNOWN MEN OF THE BIBLE. In the book, there is a brief mention of my becoming a believer in Jesus, which indeed happened more than thirty years ago. The mention is in the second chapter of the devotional, which is titled, "Levi, A Murderer's Redemption." For me, it was an honor to even be included in Minister Wilkerson's publication, and I am most thankful for that. |
Looking over my life since the time in decades past when I repented of my sins and asked the Lord Jesus to forgive me, I can say that I will forever bow my heart to God for showing me such undeserved mercy and kindness.
And with this said I wish to quote one brief paragraph from the book which I believe sums up what the Lord has done, not only in my life, but in the lives of countless multitudes who have placed their faith in him.
Pastor Don Wilkerson writes as follows, "Never judge individuals by their sins or mistakes of the past. Judge them by what they become, or by what God can do in their life."
This is a valid point. It is not what a person has done in the past, but who he or she is today that counts. And as the Scriptures teach, whoever calls upon the Lord in faith shall not only have their sins forgiven, but will be given the privilege of beginning a new life. And a new life is what I am living today, whether others believe it or not.
