Jesus said, "With men this is impossible;
but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
Jesus can make a message out of a mess...
but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
Jesus can make a message out of a mess...
I know this firsthand because this is what He did with me. More than four decades ago, my life was a mess. At the time, I had no hope of a good future. I couldn't think of a good enough reason to continue to live. The thought of ending my life was always on my mind, and suicides are not uncommon among prisoners.
But when I repented of my sins and asked Christ to forgive me and to come into my heart, my life got turned around in ways I would never have dreamed. My mess became my message. Thanks to the Lord, He has allowed my story of redemption to go into many places throughout the world.
I see evidence of this again and again. Two recent letters from the cities of Bensheim and Hamburg, Germany, attest to this. So did two letters from the state of New Hampshire.
From Germany came a letter from a twenty-two-year-old who was deeply touched by my story and has been sharing it with friends. While another was from a social worker who works with "kids who come from troubled backgrounds." She believes my story of from Satan to Christ and overcoming failure will give her kids hope.
While from New Hampshire came a letter from a Christian who, although a stranger, was so inspired by my life that he's been sharing my testimony with his church. Then came another from a man who did prison time himself. He shared how he lost everything that was precious to him: his family, home, job, and he almost lost his soul as well. But while he was locked up, he got "saved." With Christ now in his life he got a high school equivalency diploma, began to read the Bible, got several certificates for completing various Bible studies, and left prison sober. Now, years later, he has stayed that way. Clean and drug free.
With God, messed up lives can be turned into messages that give hope. As the Lord Jesus himself declared, "Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed" (John 8:36).
