Study to show thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needs not be ashamed, but
rightly teaches the words of the Scriptures.

I got back from tonight's Bible study a short while ago…
But I wanted to write this now, as I'm feeling very energized and encouraged. The study went well. We had ten men come, all of whom attend regularly. I'm always overjoyed when we're together, not only because it's my chance to socialize with them, but also because they're eager to study God's word.
It's an interactive study where everyone can participate and ask questions and share their views. I don't give a lecture in which the attendees sit passively and listen and take notes. I will share a topic and the Scriptures that are related to it, and this will lead to a discussion where everyone can provide input if they so desire.
In this evening's class, we looked at the early years of Jesus' public ministry and how the citizens of the town He'd grown up in were unable to see the Lord as anything more than the son of a carpenter. In spite of His powerful preaching and His mighty miracles, all they could picture of Jesus in their minds was a young man holding a common tool in His hands.
I challenged the men by asking them how do they see Jesus. Do they see Him as the Almighty King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Or do they view Jesus as just another religious figure, or merely as a good teacher, or as only a prophet?
No! Jesus was and is the very Son of God, and He was and is God revealed in flesh. All the guys agreed with me on this, and I knew they would because this is how the men in my fellowship know Him. He is more than a carpenter.
