Isaiah 61:1-3
I was once a deeply troubled and tormented soul who had foolishly given his life over to sin and Satan…

As a result, innocent lives were lost while others were left to grieve. I regret what I have done, and I would do anything to undo the wreckage I left behind. But it's not possible, however. Some things cannot be undone. The consequences are permanent, and I grapple at the realization of this every day.
Four decades ago, my life was a mess. Sentenced to life in prison, I saw no hope that things would get any better. I thought my life would never amount to much, and I would eventually die in confinement. I was a man without hope.
But I was wrong. I had left Christ out of the equation. Yet when I finally invited Him into my heart and asked Him to forgive all my sins, from this time on my life began to change for the better. Today, thank God, the dark parts of my past are a fading nightmare.
God has made all things new. He has taken the ashes of a ruined life and restored me to a life of hope. My story, like so many others, is one of beauty for ashes. As one of my favorite Scriptures declares, "God has made everything beautiful in His time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
