God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1
It has often been said that there's a reason for everything that happens to a child of God…
a very present help in trouble.

Last week I was in a bad accident. I didn't think it was bad at the time. But when my leg began to swell, I knew differently.
Right now, my leg looks as if I got hit by a bus, and it feels like it, too. It hurts. But I'll be fine.
In hindsight, I know the Lord was telling me to slow down. At the time of the accident, I didn't see it as such. But God is good at getting my attention. I know from experience, as well, that He often teaches me through circumstances. This was not the first time.
God is teaching me about slowing down and learning to be calm and composed. By nature, I am a high-strung individual. My impulsive behaviors still need to be conquered. Therefore, I remain on the proverbial "Potter's wheel" as my heavenly Father continues to patiently do His work from within.
In addition, my trip to the hospital was to remind me of the pain and suffering that exists all around me, and throughout the world. How that as a disciple of Messiah Jesus, I should be praying with greater fervency for people to come to know Him as Savior and Lord.
Seeing firsthand of the urgency of the situation, those who are committed followers of the Lord should be telling our neighbors that He is a very present help in times of trouble. That Jesus loves, forgives, heals, and restores. He is a God of hope.
