As I shared in last month's journal, on Saturday, January 20th, I collapsed without warning and was taken to the prison's Infirmary, unconscious...
Later I awoke and found myself strapped in a gurney, nurses tending to me. I was sent back to the outside hospital to see what was wrong, and what caused me to pass out. It was a build-up of fluid in my lungs. The medical term is "Acute Pulmonary Edema."
Going to the prison's library, I was able to read up on this medical condition. I turned to the much trusted Merck Medical Manual. A 2,300-page book on everything one would want to know about health, sickness, and more. Concerning Acute Pulmonary Edema, it stated that this is a "life-threatening emergency."
As the fluids began to build in my lungs, I was actually drowning as liquid was replacing air. I was
suffocating and had extreme difficulty breathing. Even before my collapse I was, for days, wheezing and gasping for air, so much so that several times a day I would drop to my knees gasping for air.
I am sharing this to give glory to God. People have died from this condition. My passing out allowed it to be caught in time. Again my life was spared, and I do wonder about it.
Many times throughout the years, I have asked the Lord, "Why do You allow me to keep on living?" While I cannot fully explain it, I know it's because God loves me, and He still has more work for me to do.
