I have been reading an interesting book titled, THE SIBERIANS, by Farley Mowat...
I found it in the discard bin in the gym, where guys can leave their unwanted books for someone else to pick up. I seldom look through the bin as I have too many books to read as it is. But the Lord, I believe, allowed this one to be placed at the top of the pile for me to find.
Farley Mowat was something of an explorer who spent many years visiting isolated communities as well as a number of large cities in Soviet Siberia. He even traveled above the Arctic Circle to meet those living on Russia's frozen tundra. Years earlier, and to this present time, the Lord has placed it upon my heart to pray for Russia, especially for the remote Siberian region, much of it many time zones away from Moscow. I would pray for the peoples who live here, for their land, and for the gospel to spread amongst them. So finding this book and being able to learn more about those whom I've been praying for was a godsend. D.B. |
