I still find it hard to believe that my good friend Maury Terry passed away...
He was 69 and had been suffering from emphysema and congestive heart failure. Although he was an investigative reporter and successful author, as well as a controversial figure in the world of journalism, surprisingly there was no mention of his passing in the media.
This was probably because much of the media basically blacklisted him. Maury was not a team player. He refused to march in lock step with the myriad of other journalists and reporters who towed the line and partnered with the established "powers that be."
Maury was a fighter and a champion of the truth. He was willing to go it alone, and he did. As an "expert" on the Son of Sam case, he and I had our ups and downs. Maybe far more downs than ups. But he was a good and kindhearted man. I miss him very much. God bless you, Maury.
