This has been a blessed month with a handful of opportunities to pray for and encourage fellow prisoners who've been going through some difficult and challenging situations...
Frank had been rushed to the hospital in February with chest pains. He's only in his forties, but already has a pacemaker along with a history of cardiovascular problems. He has since returned to the facility and is doing fine. He returned to our fellowship, giving thanks to God for his safety and healing.
While, Bruce was once again "hit" with two more years after his latest parole hearing. He already has thirty-nine years behind prison walls and was very discouraged. Bruce was in the military, where he experienced a series of traumatic events that left him suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).
Furthermore, Bruce has only his mother and an older sister left. His mother is 89 and suffers from dementia. He was hoping for release, so he could go home and help take care of her. But this was not to be.
I tried to encourage Bruce as best I could to keep his trust in the Lord. He's only been a Christian for a couple of years. He told me that once his mom and sister are gone, he will have no family left. He and I prayed together. And while his most recent parole decision cannot be changed, he has not given up on the Lord and is now back in church.
