I finished my shift in the kitchen a short while ago...
Fortunately, today's workload was not as intense as yesterday's.
And for a general update, my job as a caregiver at the prison's Intermediate Care Program (ICP), which I do every weekday afternoon, is still up in the air. Rumors continue to abound that my job at the ICP Unit is slated to be discontinued as new staff make their plans and talk about their ideas for changes. Such changes, I've kindly been told, may not include both me and my fellow inmate coworker. He and I have spent many years trying to help the emotionally needy men who are in ICP. So for now it's a matter of wait and see.
Meanwhile, the kitchen's civilian staff remains eager to have me as a cook. Being a cook is a much trusted and coveted job. I'm not enthusiastic about it, however. But for now, I am still working at the ICP Unit in the afternoons, and in the kitchen from late afternoon till early evening. It's the not knowing that's stressful, and then having to make a decision as to what to do next.
