Bend down, O Lord, and
hear my prayer; answer
me, for I need your help.
Psalm 86:1 NLT
My weekend was a spiritually productive one...
hear my prayer; answer
me, for I need your help.
Psalm 86:1 NLT
My weekend was a spiritually productive one...
The unseasonably mild temperatures for this time of the year probably resulted in my sparrow neighbors leaving their nests earlier than usual during the mornings. At the crack of dawn there they were on the outer window ledge of my cell singing with all their might. They were loud and they were excited. They must know something's in the air.
Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, after work, I joined my friend Robert for a 90-minute walk in the outdoor recreation yard. Then, for the remainder of the day, I alternated my time between writing and washing clothes. I did some scripture reading, too.
On Sunday there was church. I was asked to open the service in prayer. We prayed for many situations. But our main focus was praying for the sick, not only amongst our own members, but especially for those in our respective families who've been ill. Sadly, one man learned that his 27-year-old son had recently been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of cancer which affects a person's lymph nodes. He was crying as we prayed for his son. I asked the Lord Jesus to be this sick son's Great Physician. I know God hears our prayers.
Then, being that today is Monday, and it also happens to be a federal holiday (Presidents' Day), I didn't have to work. So it was a day for a little physical rest. But I did catch up on several letters, one of whom was to my friends, Tom and Angie Castellaw (www.castellaw.com). The Castellaws serve as missionaries to the Republic of Germany. They minister to both Germans as well as our United States' military personnel and their families.
