Yesterday, I expressed my desire to make some much-needed changes in my life...
And one of the advantages of passing on the torch of leadership to a fellow prisoner is that I will have more energy for helping the men who have emotional problems, and are in need of special care.
They live in the E-North housing area, which goes by the name of the Intermediate Care Program. I work in E-North on weekday afternoons. It's one of two assigned jobs I've been given, and official title being "Inmate Program Assistant."
And my joy at working with these men is that some of them like to talk about God. Occasionally, too, a man will request a Bible from the chapel or some Christian literature to read. Sometimes a man will ask me to pray for him or for a loved one, and so he and I will pray together. To me this is Christ at work, touching one life at a time. And I consider it not just a job, but a ministry.
Therefore, with the mantle of pastorship soon going to another man, I hope to have more strength to help the men who live in E-North where there are 64 souls, each one living in his own cell. And another advantage to such a change will be that I will have more energy available for my writing.
I have been guilty, for far too long, of overworking and over committing myself. This has got to stop, and by God's grace it will.
