While the wars between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Hamas rage on...
...another war is raging as well. It's a brutal internal war that has been going on for quite some time in the African nation of Sudan, which, I believe, few people even know about. And why would this be? Probably because the media has given it very little coverage. Maybe in their minds, there isn't much interest in a mostly poor African nation who by itself has little economic or political importance, at least within the scope of world events. But Jesus Christ cares.
Yet in spite of the limited news coverage, within the past year or thereabouts, approximately one million people have been displaced since the fighting started. While at least several thousand have been killed. There are food shortages, as well.
In addition, according to BBC international news reports, which are scarce, the death toll among the Sudanese continues to mount. Its primary victims being infants and young children, who are perishing from hunger and dysentery.
Learning of this only recently, as a Christian, my heart was heavy. So I shared this with my congregation here inside the prison, and we all joined in prayer for the people of Sudan. We will continue to pray for the war's end.
