It is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment.

Hebrews 9:27
Today marks five years since I underwent a quadruple bypass...
It was quite an ordeal, and I almost didn't make it. But once again God proved his faithfulness to me. I survived the operation, and I'm alive to tell about it.
It was the tenth day since arriving at the Albany Medical Center. The nurses were like angels to me. Kindhearted, helpful and professional, I was thinking of them as I was being put in a gurney and wheeled to the operating room. I didn't know if I would ever have the chance to get back to the ward I'd been on to thank them for their care.
Since then, I have fully recovered. I got a God granted reprieve, thus giving me more time to serve him. Looking back, the heart attack turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
It caused me to become more intimate with the Lord and to do a better job at not putting off the things that I know need to get done. And while I believe the Lord has a lot more work for me, I must echo the words of the apostle Paul, "For me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I remain alive, I can do more fruitful works for the Lord" (Philippians 1:21-22).
