But God showed how much he loved us by having
Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.

Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.
Romans 5:8 CEV
Last Sunday, my chaplain asked me to be prepared to share my testimony during today's worship service...
...and to not take more than five minutes to tell it. And by the grace of God, that is what I did.
I greeted all who were in the chapel and opened my talk by reading Romans 5:8, which is one of my many favorite verses in the bible. I thanked the Lord for affording me the opportunity to tell the congregation how Jesus had mercy on me by allowing me to repent of my sins, and invite him into my heart as well.
For many of the men, it was the first time hearing my story. I shared that at the time of my crimes I was not in my right mind, being tormented by demons. I was filled with dark satanic thoughts and delusions. How, regrettably, I became convinced that I was one of Satan's prized soldiers.
I told them it was a miracle that I was not shot dead by the arresting officers, and how more than ten years later, another prisoner befriended me and helped me to come to faith in my Messiah. While today, thanks to him, I am alive and healthy, and have been serving my Savior for more than thirty years.
You'd be surprised by how much one can say in five minutes. Afterwards, my chaplain thanked me for sharing what I did. I know hearts are touched whenever anyone shares his story of forgiveness, redemption, and hope. Although my testimony may be "high profile," I believe and know that every Christian's story is just as important. Every born again man or woman's testimony is highly valued by God.
Yes, the Lord not only forgave me for all my sins, he also made something useful and beautiful out of what was once a very damaged life.
