I was talking with a fellow prisoner about the unique times we're living...
Like me, he's a follower of Christ. My friend was feeling discouraged, especially by the increase of Covid and some other things that are happening in the world around us.
I told him these are indeed challenging times. They're uncertain times as well. So I reminded him of something I have to remind myself of, too. That we must always try to keep our spiritual eyes on Jesus, and not on the troubles that surrounds us.
After all, the Lord himself said that in this world we will experience troubles of all kinds. But He quickly added that we should always be of "good cheer," because He has already overcome the world with all its hassles and woes (John 16:33).
Messiah Jesus remains King of Kings and Lord of Lords even in a world filled with grief and pain, wars, famines, earthquakes and crime, and pestilences like Covid. "Our faith allows us to rise above all this," I said. It really does.
