Being confined to a small room has its challenges...
In the wing for prisoners, we are not permitted to send or receive mail. I'm only allowed to make one collect phone call per week, and I made my first call on the eighth day since being admitted.
It is an uncomfortable feeling being shut in and away from my friends on the outside, and even from the other prisoners who are in the ward with me. No socializing is permitted. In fact, the wing is so secure that I don't even know who's in the room next door.
My room is a lonely place. The hospital's staff comes in and out all day in the performance of their duties, but there's little to no socialization other than a few brief minutes of conversation. So it's really just me and Jesus. And I'm not ashamed to say that I talk to Him a lot.
Thankfully, my lawyer friend, Alan, came for a visit. Only one's attorney, or a licensed clergyman, or one's immediate family is permitted to visit. Alan stayed for about thirty minutes, which was nice. But other than his brief visit, I've had no one to talk to for a week now.
