I cannot believe it. A heart attack!
I've been in the hospital for several days now. On Friday, December 8th, I began to experience an annoying pain in both shoulders, and in the back of my neck. I had shortness of breath, too. I was in my cell at the time.
Fortunately, an inmate who was cleaning the tier saw my distress, and he alerted the correction officer who was on duty. He, in turn, notified the prison's Infirmary, and I was asked to come down. Whereupon, the doctor ordered one of the nurses to administer an electrocardiogram (EKG) exam. She then showed the results to the doctor. He promptly called for an ambulance.
Next came the long ride from Shawangunk to the emergency room at the Albany Medical Center, where I am now. I feel okay. The pain and shortness of breath subsided within a day, but all the tests I was given since arriving at the hospital show I indeed had a heart attack.
I've already met with the cardiologist who has been assigned to me. He's arranged for an exam to see what is going on inside my heart and arteries. So in the very near future, maybe by tomorrow, a tiny camera will be going up my groin and into my heart, so the doctor could see what's going on. I've never had anything like this done before. It's scary. A camera moving through my body. Amazing!
