How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
having sorrow in my heart daily? How long
shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Psalm 13:2
In yesterday's entry, I made mention of a message I got from Psalm 13.

Psalm 13:2
In yesterday's entry, I made mention of a message I got from Psalm 13.
The working title that I'm giving to it is, "God, Where Are You?" It's a fitting message for me as I
continue to be far from my church family, and as I sit alone in a room in the hospital.
King David was obviously going through a spiritual crisis when he penned the Psalm. Like me, David seemed to go through one crisis and trial after another. I could relate to him here.
In a time of distress, he said the same words I too have said, and multitudes of others as well, "God, Where Are You?" As there are times when the Lord feels far away, and we wonder if He's even listening to our cries, or if He cares.
Of course He cares. But sometimes He waits to respond because He wants to see where our faith is. King David must've been desperate. He felt as if the Lord was ignoring his cries and was even hiding from him. There are times when I felt like this, too. Many times!
But at some point, however, King David's faith kicks in. In the midst of despair, David begins to voice words of God's unfailing love, and His perpetual care. He even begins to sing.
In the psalm, King David switches gears. He goes from the fear of abandonment and failure, to trust and faith. Instead of looking at what appears to be negative circumstances, David begins to sing praises to God. "But I have trusted in Thy mercy. . . I will sing unto the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me" (Psalm 13:5-6). I need the same attitude.
