And we know that all things work together
for good to them that love God...

This month, I had two brushes with death...
for good to them that love God...
Romans 8:28
This month, I had two brushes with death...
First was the heart attack on December 8th. Then the close call, when a cap on the ventilator that was helping me to breathe during bypass surgery, somehow came off and lodged down my throat. Working quickly, the surgical team managed to eventually pull it out. It left me with a sore throat afterwards, but I was alive!
My hospitalization has been a learning experience, however, I've learned to trust God more. I have a clearer understanding now of just how brief life can be, and how quickly it could end.
This experience also showed me that I need to seek reconciliation with my family. Especially with my beloved sister and now fully grown nieces, who perhaps remember little if anything about me. I love them very much, but I left my family hurt and bewildered. I've been estranged from them for forty years, and I've no one to blame but myself. And because I am still alive, I will try harder to seek their forgiveness and to make amends. I don't want to leave this earth without this happening.
