Two Sundays ago, I got to preach my first message...
I was somewhat apprehensive as standing before an audience, especially sharing words from the Bible, is not something to take lightly. I also think that I haven't been at this prison long enough to have earned my stripes. However, I did what was asked of me, although not exactly feeling comfortable.
Yet, for many years my prayer has been that the Lord would use me where needed most, be it cleaning the chapel, setting up the sound equipment or handing out Bibles to those who need one. My cry from within has been, "Lord, please use my life in any way You choose."
When I was at Sullivan, I did an array of tasks, my favorite being the greeter to all who entered the chapel. And when it comes to serving the Lord outside the chapel, my most loved assignment is what I am doing now, writing my journal and proclaiming the mercy and endless goodness of God via my trusty typewriter.
