I will never leave thee,
nor forsake thee.

Brother Roberto was asked to lead in worship. Our choir sang about a half a dozen uplifting songs, while Brother Richard brought forth the sermon. Several men had come for the first time as well, and we hope they’ll come back next Sunday.
For my part, Pastor Felipe, who is also an inmate, asked me to give a short exhortation to the congregation. I then shared with the men what Christ refers to as the two greatest commandments. These being to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
In addition, as part of my brief seven or eight minute talk, I told the men that we should always be thankful for God’s love, mercy and grace. That if He had not bestowed such things upon us, many of us, myself included, would probably be dead right now. We’d be in Hell.
Finally, I concluded by stating that God is not a being who loves us today, but forsakes and abandons us tomorrow. Rather, the Lord has promised to be with each of us, even until the end of the age.

Note: Before beginning my message I read to them Matthew 22:34-40.
