Love is patient and kind... Love never gives up,
never loses faith, is always hopeful, and
endures through every circumstance.

This evening, nineteen men showed up for our Bible study class. At best, we would average from ten to twelve men, sometimes getting up to fifteen. But nineteen was a first.
As a teacher, I was encouraged seeing so many guys showing up at the prison's chapel with bibles in hand, ready to study God's Word. I titled the lesson, "The Way of Love." It was a study on the apostle Paul's first letter to one of the churches, which at the time was located in the busy city of Corinth.
We went through the thirteen verses in the chapter, one verse at a time, analyzing it and what it means, and how that particular verse would affect us. The central theme was in becoming a more loving, kind and generous Christian. And we talked about the different ways we as a community of faith can help and encourage those around us the way the Lord would want us to.
We also looked at a few other Scriptures such as found in the apostle John's gospel account where Jesus was quoted as saying, "This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you" (John 15:12). And again where the Lord almost repeated Himself, saying, "These things I command you, that you love one another" (John 15:17).
We discussed why Jesus chose to say this twice in one short moment, which most of us didn't realize until we put the verses side by side. And we ended the study looking over the closing verse in the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians, which is probably one of the most well-known verses in the Scriptures, maybe second to John 3:16. "These three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13).
