When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit
of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
Isaiah 59:19
Talk about challenges!

Isaiah 59:19
Talk about challenges!
It has been a trying and challenging time for everyone, I'm sure. For me, in addition to the various situations I face daily, I have to also deal with record levels of heat and humidity. Yes, I live in a place where the cell blocks have no air conditioning and very little air circulation. This alone can be grueling, not to mention everything else that goes on behind these walls.
I am thankful, however, that the oppressive heat of summer will eventually come to an end. Fall will arrive, and my tree friends will once again begin to bloom. But for now, it's all about surviving the heat.
But this entry is not a complaint about the weather. It's about victory. In spite of all the inconveniences that come with incarceration, and my own trials and thorns as well, the Lord always gives me the grace to overcome them.
Yes, sometimes problems will come in like a flood, as they did with the legendary Old Testament character, Job. He showed what true faith could do. He lost so much in such a short time: his children, his livelihood, and even his health. While his three close friends, who came to mourn alongside him, brought Job no comfort at all. All they did was heap false guilt on him, blaming Job for causing his own troubles. Which, as one will glean from reading the biblical account, his afflictions were not caused by any wrongdoing on his part.
So I've been thinking to myself, if Job could put up with such overwhelming situations which hit him all at once, my having to deal with oppressive heat and humidity, and the usual daily nonsense of prison life, gives me no grounds to murmur and complain.
Jesus is always with me. He has shown me His loving care and His faithfulness day after day. I may be sweating as I sit in a prison cell writing this entry, yet it's nothing to be compared with the problems and challenges a faithful Job had to face.
