But thanks be to God, which gives us the

And many challenges to his faith. Like it or not, he's going to find himself locked in a spiritually driven battle where Satan and his cohorts will give it their all to stop the Christian's progress in his walk with the Lord. I know this from firsthand experience. In a time of war, a soldier must expect attacks to be leveled against him. To think otherwise is to live in a state of foolishness, and in denial of what the Scriptures declare to be so.
The devil's agenda is to "steal, kill, and destroy" (John 10:10). This is a fact. He may at times change his tactics, but his goals are always the same: to hinder, harass, and persecute those who belong to Jesus.
But the good part is that Christ has made us to be "more than conquerors" (Romans 8:37). Our loving Lord will not send His children into war unprepared. He has provided us with all we will need to overcome this diabolical adversary.
God has given to every believer in the Lord Jesus the gift of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. He has provided us with the necessary spiritual armor to both resist and engage whatever forces of evil we may encounter. And He has given us the Scriptures, also known as the "Word of God," and the "Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17).
The truth is, the devil is terrified of God's elect. A Spirit-filled Christian who is clothed with the full armor of God, and who stands on the Lord's words, is infinitely more powerful than Satan and all his troops.
May those who belong to Jesus acknowledge these truths. May we be thankful for the privilege of being His disciples, and may we use our God given authority well.
