I have fought a good fight. I have finished
my course. I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
I often think about home...
my course. I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
I often think about home...
I long to be there surrounded by loved ones. Sometimes I would spend whole days pondering it, even as I go through my usual activities.
More than likely, however, when one first reads the previous paragraph, he or she would probably assume that I’m referring to rejoining my family here on earth. I would love to be able to do so, but this isn't exactly what I have in mind. I'm actually referring to my home in heaven where Jesus awaits me, and so too my many friends who've gone on before me.
Yet for now, until that day comes when I take my last breath, or until I vanish in an instant of time never to be found on this planet again, I hope I could say the same words as the apostle Paul did when he was about to embark on his journey to paradise. "I have fought a good fight of faith, never quitting or sinking in despair. I have stayed on the path God has set before me. And I have never turned my back on the Lord when life got tough, or when I didn't always understand why I had to go through all the trials that I did."
To quote the words of saint James the apostle, "Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord" (James 5:7).
