With great reluctance, I consented to an interview with a major television network, CBS.
I had mixed feelings about doing it, and much trepidation, but I also sensed the Lord wanted it done. It was a difficult interview, and at times it was torturous because of the many hard and painful questions that were asked.
I was exhausted afterwards. My shirt was soaked with sweat. But I did it, stepping into the media's arena with a mixture of fear and faith, not knowing what to expect. I gave it my best, however, even as I sat before a skeptical interviewer.
And now with the program having been aired before millions, I trust viewers were able to see sincere remorse in my face, as well as hear my words of regret and sorrow over a terrible tragedy which happened more than forty years ago.
I hope those who watched the program were able to see a different man today than the one who, decades earlier, was a very deluded and satanically driven individual who was not in his right mind at the time. While my biggest hope is that by the end of the interview, many were able to see God's ability to transform the life of an individual whom society once considered to be incorrigible and unredeemable.
