When you pass through the waters, I will be with thee;
and through the rivers, they will not overflow thee.
Isaiah 43:2a
This is an uneasy time for me...
and through the rivers, they will not overflow thee.
Isaiah 43:2a
This is an uneasy time for me...
Even though the Lord has provided for me a "peace which passes all human comprehension," the truth is that I sometimes have feelings of fear, especially as the 35th anniversary of my arrest approaches.
For me August 10th is just another day. To the media, however, it could very well be a convenient time to revisit the past and rehash tragic events. In fact I have already received letters from several media outlets requesting interviews. But for me the "Son of Sam" case is no longer a big story. I wish it would fade away altogether.
More than likely, there will be some publicity. While I dread it, I know it is unavoidable as those crimes are a part of New York City's history. It' s also the terrible price I have to pay for infamy. Society will never let a man forget his crimes, and neither will the media.
So I have been praying for the anniversary to pass quickly. I would think, too, that the media's coverage of the events would be even more painful for the families who've lost a Ioved one, and for those who were injured and are still trying to recover after all these years.
I am definitely not so naive as to think that time heals all wounds. It does not. But Christ himself can heal those who have been bruised by life's cruel blows. By His own words, Jesus has come to heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18).
