You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,
and ordained you, that you should go and bring
forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain...
John 15:16
The above Scripture from John's gospel account absolutely amazes me...

The above Scripture from John's gospel account absolutely amazes me...
The thought that not only did my Messiah pay the ultimate penalty for my sins by dying on a cross, but that he had me in mind when he did so. To think that the Lord would look down the corridors of time and pick me to serve him. Why?
Of course, he has also chosen hundreds of millions throughout the centuries, as well. I'm not the only one, by far. But to think that in spite of my crimes and my once demonic state of mind, he would look my way and show His hand of favor, is simply beyond comprehension.
A man, whom the world saw as beyond redemption and worthless, has found favor with God. It makes no sense. But this is the way he works. The Lord oftentimes chooses those whom society labels as "scum." The ones who are thought to be of little significance or value, and have seemingly nothing to offer, he will select to help fulfill his plans.
Jesus lovingly lifted me from the mud I'd been stuck in. He cleaned and healed me and restored and blessed me. Next, He filled me with the Holy Spirit. He then sent me into the world to proclaim his eternal goodness, and to announce to the world that Jesus saves.
His door of mercy is open. His arms are open wide. As the Lord proclaimed in the Scriptures, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
