As there may not be an opportunity to do so tomorrow.
Jesus was not talking flippantly when He declared in His discourse on the future of the holy temple in Jerusalem, and what the last days would be like, that there would be wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in many places. All signs of a dying planet.*
Christ tells us of these things, not only so that we would not be taken by surprise by them, but that we would prepare for them, as well. Also, because they serve as reminders that life is a gift from God. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Today is the time to seek the Lord, and to make our peace with Him. Today is the day of salvation.
