Recently I've begun to correspond with a couple from Belgium…
They're devout Christians. It's encouraging for me to communicate with those from distant lands, and to learn what God is doing in various parts of the world.
Sadly, however, my friends from Belgium tell me that less than one percent of Belgium's population is "evangelical." According to them, many of their nation's youth are into witchcraft, satanism, astrology, New Age belief systems, and the occult. They're also comfortable with the belief that demons exist, but in their minds, it's not a big deal. While their view of Jesus Christ and His church, is skewed.
As the Lord himself said in the Scriptures, His disciples are to be the salt and light of the world. As I have heard it said many times, "All that people will ever see of Jesus, is what they see of Him through us."
Christ wants us to be this salt and light. But if we're honest, we must admit that for the most part, many of us are not. We have become comfortable and complacent in the world. We have lost our zeal and passion for the things of God. And we have lost our love for souls. The result, we're surrendering ground to Satan.
Yes, we are losing ground to Satan. He's furthering his kingdom while the church sleeps. For years now, the church has begun to lose its influence in Europe and North America. Thankfully, however, many souls are coming to Christ in places like Africa and Asia. Even Iran is experiencing a great awakening of Jesus Christ and the Bible. And they're suffering much persecution because of it. But the church has always managed to grow in faith and in numbers when God's children are under the fires of affliction and hardship.
May God give the spiritually stagnant regions of the world, such as Europe and North America, a new outpouring of His Spirit. May we have a new "Great Awakening," or we will perish. America will die. We will rot from the inside out. Our influence in the world, gone. Without biblically sound moorings, America will drift into oblivion. So will much of Europe.
Please think about what I am saying. "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God" (Psalm 9:17).
