As the readers of my journal know, I have a big interest in the welfare of Indigenous First Nations peoples (Indians) who live on the many reserves* that are spread throughout Canada...
Many of these communities are geographically isolated and are difficult to get to. They are also plagued with high rates of poverty, unemployment, limited resources, alcoholism and drug addiction, and suicide. The suicide rate for young persons eighteen and under is also higher than the national average.
As Christ’s disciples, we cannot forget those of the First Nations. So I ask that intercessory prayers be made for all First Nations peoples stretching from the rugged coast of Labrador to the remote regions of the Yukon Territories. Precious souls are at stake.

*In the United States we have Indian reservations, but in Canada, they are referred to as reserves.
