Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord, and in the power of His might.

I’ve been here for two years now, so I’ve gotten to know many of these men. I know they love the Lord, and they’re doing the best they can to serve Christ in a difficult environment. As this is a place, unfortunately, in which following the Lord is seen as a “crutch,” and as being weak.
But the reality is that such beliefs are untrue. The truth is that these men are spiritual warriors who daily find themselves wrestling in prayer against the forces of darkness.
The Bible states that the believer in Christ Jesus has the “mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). Therefore, the Lord’s disciples are smart. Neither are we weak nor passive, as it takes great determination and inner strength to continue to resist the cravings of one’s flesh, and to resist the Devil as well.
Living in prison as a disciple of Jesus means confronting sin and Satan. It means sometimes having your name and reputation maligned. So this is not a lifestyle for the faint-hearted, and those who lack faith. In fact, the Word of God declares that the Christian is “more than a conqueror” through Christ himself (Romans 8:37).
