Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

It was a good weekend for me. We had our Resurrection Day service in the afternoon, followed by a worship service in the evening...
However, for reasons unknown, our scheduled volunteer minister for the evening's service didn't show. So the head elder asked me to present the sermon. It caught me by surprise, but I was obedient to his request.
I felt very unprepared, but the Lord was with me. He truly was. As always, Jesus was right on time. He responded to my silent cry for help, and the next thing I knew, I was standing before the men and giving the message he placed within my heart.
I spoke about Christ's resurrection. How that this day was not only about the Lord's resurrection, but ours as well. I shared from Romans 6:1-11, reading the passage and expounding on each verse, as well as expounding on my main text: 2 Corinthians 5:17.
According to Romans chapter six, just as we have been buried with Christ in death, we have been resurrected with Him too. The gist of my message being that, not only are those who are in Christ the benefactors of the Lord's resurrection from the grave, but that this makes the day a cause for celebration for our resurrection, as well. In other words, on this day, I'm giving God thanks for my resurrection as well.
Returning to my main text, 2 Corinthians 5:17, I explained that this verse is actually a "resurrection" verse, in that it tells the one who has placed his faith in the Lord, that in God's eyes he is a totally new creation. One who had been spiritually dead, is now alive. He's become a brand-new person.
Hopefully, the men would have taken away a more personal and glorious view of Resurrection. This being that not only are we - the church - rejoicing in Christ's resurrection, but in ours too. To me, this is an awesome and amazing truth.
