Where I am now is different in many ways...
Thankfully, there are men at Shawangunk who love the Lord, and I am just getting to know them. But overall, there seems to be more rules and restrictions here. Maybe this is because many inmates are sent to Shawangunk after messing up at other facilities, including Sullivan. Shawangunk has the reputation for being a place for bad guys.
Humanly speaking, my transfer makes no sense, as my disciplinary record has been excellent. Even the officer who processed me in when I first stepped off the transport van said, "Berkowitz, you have a good disciplinary record. How come they sent you here?" I told him I didn't know. In fact, I still don't know, and probably never will.
Nevertheless, I want to always keep trust in the Lord, as nothing happens to one of His children without His knowledge and permission. So there's a purpose to this. And I do hope to bloom and flourish here, no matter the difficulties of adjusting in such an environment.
