Snow in Spring

Finally, snow! It was nice to see at least several inches of snow on the ground this week...

Very strange for April, and a nice surprise to what has been an almost snow-less winter. Only a week ago, and beginning in late March, flocks of hungry robins filled the prison's large recreation yard in search of worms. Much to their delight, I'm sure, unseasonably warm weather brought multitudes of earthworms to the soil's surface for breaths of fresh air, and their first peek at the sun after a long winter living below ground. But the robins were ready for them.
