Blessed be God, which hath not turned
away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.
Psalm 66:20
It's a rainy Sunday afternoon...
away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.
Psalm 66:20
It's a rainy Sunday afternoon...
This morning's chapel service went well. My assignment was to cover the chapel's main entrance and greet all who enter in.
These days I function mostly as the congregation's welcomer, which suits me just fine. It's a task I enjoy. Especially because of my hyperactivity, being the church's greeter keeps me on my feet and moving. I hand out Bibles to those who need one. I answer questions, help to take up the offerings, and give out cups of water to the thirsty. When necessary, I will also help the men fill out prayer request forms for those who cannot do it themselves, plus much more.
Yet I am still available, when needed, to open a service with a prayer, or read a Bible passage, or give a short exhortation or even preach a sermon, if I'm asked. But for the most part, I do more writing than anything else. I am also thankful to have had the opportunity to pass on much of the preaching and teaching, and other pulpit responsibilities to other men in the congregation whom I know to be spiritually mature and sound in faith. It's a joy to serve the Lord.
